Do Nothing

by Sloth Hands

/
1.
Silent Majority Breaking down I'm falling down the drain This silence going nowhere and it's frying up my brain Exhaustion crushes me and I can't feel anything I just lay here numb and it's driving me insane Shock me? You already did Fear -- make the problem what you want You're rich -- but still screaming at your basement walls Your words -- they're just jacking off your ego Your suits -- they can't hide those bed sheets Silent Majority Student loans and capitalism Silent Majority Climate change and arms races Silent Majority Jim Crow, slavery, and colonization Silent Majority Not my fucking democracy
2.
Build a wall, dropkick the world Don't bore me with your problems Pour the concrete, mount the guns For every stone you throw I throw two Cuz I want it all Walking around with a gun by my dick You've got these choices so take your pick A dirty life or a quick death Take your pick
3.
Do Nothing 00:34
Let the flies eat at their face Do nothing It'll trickle down someday Do nothing Isolate me We can drop the bombs from here Do nothing It only killed a couple kids It's nothing
4.
Everything we have will get taken away Don't need this isolation--just need a change Human health based on markets past We know what you need--it's a kick in the ass It's going away Hang them up to dry then throw them out To work for me you'll need a degree Go get a degree--no, a higher degree Some days you'll wonder how you'll eat Don't worry, punch the clock rinse and repeat Rinse and repeat Hang them up to dry then throw them out Some days you'll wonder how you'll eat Don't worry, punch the clock rinse and repeat
5.
Every day it's all the same Every day it's in my brain The things I see when I'm awake The things I see put me to sleep I don't wanna wake up Don't tell me I'm getting lazy Don't tell me I can get what I want I promise that I'm trying but I don't wanna
6.
Run it all around let's do it again Destruction back and forth we're collateral damage Such a small mind I don't know if we can do it Navigate the maze--is it even worth it Mouse Trap Killer Believe us when we tell you that they're just bad people Believe us when we tell you that they're just not working Blame it on the teachers when the kids start failing Can't be that hard to think when you're starving They just wanna watch you run until you die
7.
Revolver 02:06
Bite the bullet Eat the revolver Load the six gun Pull the trigger and swallow it fucking whole Breaking my teeth on lead-tipped opportunity One for me and two for you Is this all we can do Or is this just what we wanna do It's the only way and we've seen it time and time again Just try to buy your way out of this chamber Is this all we can do Or is this just what we wanna do
8.
Shred 01:17
Wanna carve up your empty swimming pools Break my bones and bust my head Not so good at this I think I'll end up dead Dawn 'til dusk it's the only thing I'll do I just want to shred Wanna carve up your parking lots Peel away the flesh from my knees Not so good at this I think I'll end up dead Dawn 'til dusk it's the only thing I'll do

about

I wanted to do something a little different when writing new songs. I've always wanted to play music that was similar to 80s hardcore. Bands like The Adolescents, Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Minor Threat and countless others played music that was loud, fast, aggressive, and fun.

But it was also (sometimes) socially conscious. In a year full of immense social and political frustration, 2016 seemed like the perfect year for Sloth Hands to record some songs that are also loud, fast, aggressive, and fun. As an incredibly passive aggressive introvert, there's something about 80s hardcore that serves as the ultimate catharsis.

Lyrically, a lot of these songs are written in the context of holding the mirror up to the people and ideas I disagree with. Hopefully you knew that when listening to the songs, but if you didn't, well, now you do.
